Travel Smart
Take more than one card
When travelling overseas, it's vital that you are able to make purchases and gain access to your funds when you need to. Carrying more than one card makes it easier for you:
- in case you lose or have a card stolen
- when merchants only accept certain cards
- when ATMs don't allow you to access linked accounts.
When an ATM doesn't allow you to access your linked accounts, i.e. choose between transaction or savings and credit card accounts, it may automatically make the withdrawal from your credit card account. If this happens you could be charged overseas cash advance fees.
If you want to make a withdrawal from your savings account at an ATM that doesn't allow you to select accounts, the best option is to use your transaction account card like an ANZ Access or an ANZ Everyday Visa Debit card. By carrying the extra card, it's easier to stay in control of your funds while overseas. Plus, with an ANZ Everyday Visa Debit, you have the benefit of a card that works like a Visa credit card but uses your own funds.
